a guy I work with has had a run of bad luck lately. two weeks ago a customer called in saying he scratched their antique tv stand. saying something like how it cost 5,000 bucks, blah blah blah. a week later I’m at a job with him and while he was climbing into the customers attic he breaks the shelf in their closet by steping on it. now in his defense it would have been very difficult to avoid steping on this shelf to begin with. the opening/access to get into the attic was barely large enough for someone to get through in the first place. ontop of that it was in the far corner of the closet located a couple feet above a shelf. and THEN the closet was packed with a decade of shit- cleaning it out really wasn’t an option. so yah he broke it. it would of happened to anyone who attempted it but unfortunately it was him.
yesterday afternoon I go help this guy with a wallfish. hes in the attic and is drilling when I notice a bunch of antqiue plates hanging on the wall he’s drillin in. I quickly remove them to avert disaster. who knew that the real disaster would be him falling through the ceiling.
scared the shit out of me. I’m getting bored standing in this room so I start to drift into one of my day dreams then I hear very loud thud and the leg/half ass of a six foot man hanging out of this customers 9 foot ceiling.
this couldn’t have happened at a worse house. this was a HUGE house- I suppose that was part of the problem. there were no support beams for this guy to hold onto while he walked across the support beams in the attic. I’ve had to do that shit once and I was up there crawling like a baby. no fucking way I’m paying for a ceiling.
at any rate I felt really bad for the guy. I know he’s having problems at home, has another kid on the way and is struggling money wise. this is all he needs. after thinking out it, I don’t think he’ll get fired. the company is going to pay for the damages then they’ll do a payroll deduction from him til its paid off. I’m sure they’ll atleast want to get their money back before they fire him.
I’m other news, or as the title emplies ‘ having some problems’ of my own. I recently decided to enroll in a fiber trainning class. I might have jumped the gun on it a bit, but all I could think is how useful being certified in that would be. I know many service techs that have been in this business for years that don’t know how to work on fiber. emediately that alone would  be my reason for a better salary at a different job.  the catch is the training is something like 15 hundred bucks. not much different than many other training courses. and much like other training courses I’ve done/working on you don’t really need to enroll in an actual course- it doesn’t really matter how you learn the materical just as long as you can pass the exam to get certified. thing is I can’t simply read a book for something like this so I’m sort of forced to go about learning it this way.
I’m going to try and find out more about it today. I don’t think class starts for a few weeks.
