well, so far I’ve learned both nothing and a lot. see the company I contract for now does cable and telephone. I’ve done service work for years on cable lines so thats no thing to me. I’m trying to learn the phone side of it which everyone tells me is “really easy”. if you seen some of the people I work with that are saying this… well then should be really fucking easy for me.

I’m struggling right now with money and my bills. see during my ‘training’ period I barely make shit, I pretty much have to support myself which in the next week will probably mean bringing out one of the credit cards I just paid off to use for food/gas.

just last night I went to Lowes and spent nearly 300 bucks on tools, not even getting quite everything I need. but enough to let me work. I’m hoping if they see that I can do everything (and already having my tools will help) then maybe they’ll let me start early instead of training a full month.

another thing that made me want to get some tools is to help out the guy who is training me… he’s really only been doing this for a couple months and is suppose to teach me haha. to be fair he does seem to know a lot but doesn’t use a lot of logic in his troubleshooting so he might spend an extra two hours on a job that could have only taken him 2 minutes.

ie.. we goto a house where the ladies ADSL isn’t working. she had a dual outlet. one of the first things I had suggested is “it might not be on the right outlet, lets switch em”. he kind of ignores me and suggest we remove all the wall plates in the house, then we end up going back to the main feed a few blocks away.. then to the ped then back to the house.. until we take the outlet plate from behind the modem off the wall to find.. oh she had the shit on the wrong line. now mind you this whole trouble call took 2 days… maybe 2-3 hours all together.

another stupid incident was doing home networking and him for some reason disabling DHCP then wondering why the other computers couldn’t connect to the router. had I of not shown him this one there is no doubt in my mind he would have been here for another hour+

so I you cut out all the stupid then we would have been done really early every day this week but instead have been working over time.. and I don’t get paid over time. hell, as is my training pay is probably 7hr or something like that… maybe irs like 6.50
its more of an investment I guess. I hope.
