Rant!

I hate building shit and I hate mondays

05.15.07 | 1 Comment

Since I’ve moved in to my new apt 6+ months ago I’ve had to build a variety of things- a couple dressers, stereo stand, bbq grill, some assembly of kitchen appliances and tonight a new dinning room table.

Do not believe the box. “easy assembly” does not mean fast assembly, for some reason I thought it did. easy to me means without effort and generally fast. I started this fucking table at about 6:30 and didn’t finish it until 9pm. That was putting together four chairs and the table. on the plus side its pretty fucking sweet- now I have somewhere to eat all those eggs I cook every morning, oh and a place to take my mac that isn’t the bathroom.

I absolutely hate when I have a busy day and I find myself at the end of it, having had no real me time. like every other monday I’m raped with an insane work load, it’s obvious no one cares because mid day when your still stacked they give you more, or me more, whatever. I’ll complain all I want here but out there I just do it. My buddy was pretty upset, I could quote him saying “there has to be something better than this”. haha, yah no one likes mondays.

my day wasn’t filled with as many idiots as usual. the only guy I seemed to really take notice to today was an older black man painting a house I was working at. he was a contractor, not the owner of the house. I find myself wondering how people get to that point in their life…

the point in your life where your still making barely more than minimum wage, working a shit job when you should really be getting ready to retire or maybe should be retired already. I see it all day, every day. they’re out there, everywhere. how do you become a 40 some year old person without a real career yet, unless your career plan is fast food or gas station attendant. I’m sorry but if I ever find myself in that sort of predicament I will without doubt put an end to my life.

reminds me of a quote from the book I’m reading-

“Life’s greatest comfort is being able to look over your shoulder and see people worse off than you standing in line”
